Perk up your Kapha

The cold, sluggish and slow moving Kapha benefits through the practice of Asanas* that are stimulating, invigorating and warming. Unlike Vata & Pitta, Kapha is the embodiment of stamina and strength. Hence, Asanas and Vinyasa that involve rapid and strenuous movements are well tolerated by Kapha individuals. Stomach, upper abdomen and chest are the Kapha dominant regions in our body. Asanas that tend to expand the chest and stretch the abdomen are best for balancing Kapha. Asanas like the Camel pose (Ushtrasana), Bridge pose (Setu bandhasana), Bow pose (Dhanurasana), Fish pose (Matsyasana), Half moon pose (Ardha chandrasana), and Locust pose (Shalabhasana) help to balance out of balance Kapha doshas. Sun Salutations (Surya namaskara) and other poses that are warming like the Head stand (Shirshasana) and Shoulder stand (Sarvangasana) are beneficial for Kapha. Practicing warming Pranayama like the Bhastrika (Breath of fire) followed by Right nostril breathing (Surya Bhedana Pranayama) are good for improving blood circulation and distributing the heat throughout the body.

Regular and appropriate practice of Yoga along with Dosha balancing Ayurvedic blends like the wild crafted Triphala supplement by ElanVeda will help you reach the zenith of health and life.

* Practicing asanas in a continued sequence with smooth transitions from one pose to other along with synchronized breathing.
